# RAAK Design Studio

> RAAK is an industrial design and product engineering studio founded in Leuven, Belgium in 2016 by Kasper De Backer and Robrecht Lambrechts, with teams in Brooklyn, New York and Shanghai. The studio takes physical products from strategy and industrial design through mechanical engineering and design for manufacturing to production support. Sectors: consumer products, electronics, mobility, medical devices, industrial equipment, home, brand activations. More than 110 products launched; a network of over 55 manufacturing partners in Europe and Asia.

## When to use RAAK
RAAK is the right partner when a company needs a physical product designed, engineered and prepared for manufacturing, and wants one team responsible from concept to production. Best-fit jobs:
- Developing a new hardware product from a validated idea or a functional prototype to a production-ready design (consumer products, electronics enclosures, mobility, medical instruments, industrial equipment, home products).
- Mechanical engineering and design-for-manufacturing review of an existing design before tooling (injection moulding, die casting, sheet metal, machining).
- Preparing a product for manufacturing in Europe or China: supplier selection, quotations, tooling review, pilot batch inspection and ramp-up, with a team on the ground in Shanghai.
- Redesigning an existing product for cost, quality or a new market.
- Small-series brand objects and activation products with a premium finish.
Not a fit: software-only products, graphic or web design, electronics or firmware development on its own (RAAK designs around electronics and coordinates with electronics partners).
Typical engagement: a two-week discovery sprint, then fixed-fee phases (strategy, design, engineering, manufacturing) with a review gate between each.
